Make an Annual Fund Gift

Funding cuts continue in 2011...we've already endured more than $1,000,000 in reductions over the last two years and we anticipate more is on the way.  We continue to operate even  more efficiently in order to keep providing services to people with disabilities in our community.

To help offset these cuts, our goal for Annual Fund 2011 is $117,500 which would be our largest Annual Fund drive in our history.  YOU can make the difference in helping us reach it!  We need your help more than ever, so please consider making your donation today!  Checks can be made payable to “The Rehabilitation Foundation” and sent to 1439 Buffalo Street, Olean, NY 14760. Gifts by credit card can be made by clicking the Donate button above.

Thank you so much in advance for your support of our agency and the people we serve!

The Abigail V. Dulmus
Holiday Celebration Endowment

Abigail V. Dulmus

1983-2007

Who was Abigail?

Abigail or “Abby” as so many of us called her began attending the ReHabilitation Center’s Continuing Day Treatment Program in 2003, a program specifically for individuals with Abby’s special needs related to mental illness and developmental disabilities. In February 2007 Abby died at the age of 23 from complications related to a routine tonsillectomy. As her family looked for a way to honor her memory, it seemed ideal to do so through this agency that enriched Abby’s life in so many ways.

The Endowment Fund

In November 2008 the Abigail V. Dulmus Holiday Celebration Endowment was created by her family with an initial donation. This newly restricted fund within the endowment at the Rehabilitation Foundation has been designated to provide an income to support annual holiday celebrations within the day treatment and sheltered workshop programs Abby attended. This fund supports two things that she particularly loved so very much—holidays and friends—and will provide financial support for an array of holiday celebrations at the programs throughout each year including Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Abby’s family chose this specific purpose because they knew how much joy Abby received from each and every holiday celebration and thought it would be a wonderful and fun way to honor her memory and allow all of us to continue celebrating for her.

The beauty of this endowment is that Abby’s memory will continue in perpetuity to ensure a measure of celebration at holiday times that might not otherwise occur within these programs due to not-for-profit funding constraints. These modest holiday celebrations have great meaning for the clients in Abby’s program.

What you can do!

A fundraising goal of $200,000 has been set for Abby’s endowment fund. Please consider supporting this endowment with your own one-time donation, a gift on an annual basis, and/or estate planning.  Click on the “Donate” button below to make you gift via credit card.  All gifts are tax deductible and much appreciated.

Until which time the endowment is fully funded, Abby’s family is funding annual holiday celebrations so that parties can be ongoing in Abby’s honor.
